A Netflix announced on Thursday, 22, that subscription prices for streaming services will increase. The applied increases vary between 18,3% e 21,8%.
In a note, the company justifies the adjustment with the promise of offering the best experience for the subscriber, with the best original content and a wide variety of genres.
The increase applies to new subscriptions and for those who are already a subscriber. The last adjustment in the price of subscriptions took place in March 2019.
Check the values:
Basic (single screen, no HD): from R$21.90 to R$25.90;
Standard (two simultaneous screens and HD content): from BRL 32.90 to BRL 39.90;
Premium (four simultaneous screens and Ultra HD): from BRL 45.90 to R$ 55,90.
According to Netflix, subscribers will be notified of the change within 30 days and will have another 30 days to decide whether or not to change their plans, or even cancel their subscription.
This week, the streaming giant released its 2021 second-quarter earnings. Netflix posted revenues of $7.3 billion for the period, but the number of new subscribers slowed.
During the announcement of the result, Netflix also confirmed its expansion towards streaming games, which had been announced recently.
The competitors, like Amazon Prime, Disney+ e HBO+, have cheaper subscriptions, with the intention of getting more customers.
