The lack of processors can delay the launch schedule for manufacturers of all types, from smartphones to cars

The Brazilian Cristiano Amon, Is the world CEO Qualcomm, believes that the current lack of processors will end at the end of this year, when supply and demand will be balanced again.

In an interview with the American broadcaster Bloomberg, Amon said that there is not a single industry that is free from the lack of semiconductors. “This was due to the acceleration of different trends during the pandemic,” said the CEO.

One of the devices that is not expected to win a new version in 2021 is the Galaxy Note, the most important smartphone in the Samsung product catalog for the second half, when the new version of the iPhone is launched.

In the increasingly connected world, Amon says he believes that demand for semiconductors will continue to be high in 2022 and also for years to come – implying that supply is unlikely to exceed demand anytime soon.

From pocket to car

In the interview, Amon also spoke about the present and future of Qualcomm’s commercial relations. For him, the company has room to grow in the United States and China, meeting the demand for digitalization, which will continue to be strong in the coming years.

As the new main business front in addition to smartphones, Amon points to the automotive industry. For the CEO, the car is becoming a computer with wheels. For this reason, the company has a division dedicated to the automobile sector.

Another industry with great potential pointed out in the interview was the Internet of Things in companies that carry out digital transformation processes.
