Prime Time Zone, Webdesk: Minister of State Katie Rama Rao today formally inaugurated the New Year gift given by the Telangana government to the people of Greater. Minister KTR on Tuesday morning launched a free drinking water scheme in Rehmatnagar in the Hyderabad metropolis. Zero water bills were then distributed door-to-door in Rehmat Nagar. The state government is offering a free drinking water scheme as part of the GHMC election guarantee. Speaking on the occasion, Minister KTR said, “We will provide 20,000 liters of drinking water per month to every family free of cost.” It was revealed that charges will be levied if water is used in excess of Rs 20,000. In addition orders were issued making the meter mandatory to get free drinking water. KTR said it was billing 20,000 liters according to the tariff according to the meter reading. It was suggested that the scheme be extended to apartment dwellers along with bastis. It was also revealed that drinking water is being allocated at the rate of 20,000 liters per plot. Currently, out of a total of 10.08 lakh black connections, only 2.37 lakh are black meters. Those who do not have meters yet are advised to set up immediately.
