A rare incident took place during the polling of the second release panchayat election in Krishna district. The 9-month-pregnant woman, who entered the ring as a Janasena party-backed candidate, voted on polling day and gave birth to a very fertile baby. This rare event took place in Krishnajilla Korokallu. In the Kalidindi zone Korukallu village, the Sarpanchi seat was reserved for a woman while Battu Leelakanakadurga contested as a candidate.
With 9 months pregnant she was actively involved in the election campaign. She was rushed to Kaikaloor Government Hospital in pain shortly after casting her vote. There she gave birth to a fruitful girl. She revealed that she feels lucky to have a baby on the day she contested and voted as a serpent. And the girl brought good luck and success to that house. Leela Kanakadurga won with a majority of 672 votes and was elected Sarpanch.
Leela Kanakadurga said that she was pregnant and that the elders, friends and well-wishers of the village were behind her and worked hard for her success. She thanked everyone. She said she is very happy now and is indebted to everyone who worked hard for her success. The mother is adamant that her son is lucky to be the sarpanch. He did not expect to come into politics at all .. Sarpanch is happy to be surprised to come to office. Leela Kanakadurga says the incident will be remembered for a lifetime.
