The minister should remain in Amazonas until next Wednesday, 17, to meet with authorities, visit works at the oxygen plants and supervise the teams of the Ministry of Health
THE Amazon registered 2,445 new cases of Covid-19 this Friday, 11, totaling more than 292 thousand positive diagnoses of the disease and 9,753 deaths from the disease. In the past few weeks, the state has experienced a collapse in the health system, with lack of oxygen, asphyxiation deaths, scarcity of vacancies and transfer of patients, and remains in the purple phase, which is the maximum risk classification for coronavirus transmission. With that, for the third time, the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, embarked this Friday to Manaus and should stay in the state until next Wednesday, 17. In Amazonas, he will hold meetings with the mayors and with Governor Wilson Lima, will visit the works of the oxygen plants and should supervise the teams of the Ministry of Health that support, for example, the transfer of patients to other states. In all, 558 patients have already been transferred to receive treatment in other states.
On Thursday, 10, Pazuello participated in a public hearing in the National Congress, pressured by the possibility of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) to investigate government actions and omissions in pandemic. On that occasion, the senator from Amazon, Omar Aziz, who fears the third peak of the disease, made an appeal to the minister. “It is not the quantity of vaccines, if 500 thousand, one million, two million will come, it is to immunize 70% of the population as soon as possible. It is an appeal we make to you and the president Jair Bolsonaro“, said. In response, Pazuello said immunization in the state will be accelerated in a joint effort with the Ministry of Defense. “We are going to vaccinate everyone over 50 in the first leg accelerating, without taking them out of the states. Just accelerate here and return on the second leg. This is the design that has been developing for two weeks. ”
Still on Friday, the Federal Public Ministry in Amazonas, he asked the federal, state and armed forces for explanations about accusations of idle beds in military hospitals in the region during the Covid-19 crisis. The response time is 24 hours. In a note, the state health department said that military hospital beds are not made available to the general population because they are not Single Health System (SUS). The Ministry of Defense said that to serve the more than 55,000 military personnel, there are only 26 ICU beds, of which 18 are occupied and that 33 military personnel have been evacuated to other states to prevent a collapse.
