German medical team in Portugal, led by Jens-Peter Evers
The Luxembourg and French Governments will support Portugal in fighting the pandemic, with medical teams arriving as early as next week.
Portugal will receive, already next week, two medical teams from France and Luxembourg, an “important support” in the treatment of covid-19 patients in hospitals with high pressure of intensive care, announced the Ministry of Health.
“The Ministry of Health accepted the offer of help from the Luxembourg and French Governments to support the treatment of covid-19 patients in Portugal,” said Marta Temido’s office, in a statement.
According to the same source, the Luxembourg team, consisting of two doctors and two nurses, will support the intensive care service of Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora, while the doctor and the three French nursing professionals go to work at the Garcia de Orta Hospital, in Almada.
“The teams should arrive in the week of February 15, with a stay of 15 days,” said the Ministry of Health, stressing that this assistance “constitutes an important support to two hospitals that have been experiencing high pressure at the level of intensive care ”.
In addition to these two teams, Portugal is already german military medical team who started treating the first patients on Monday.
Consisting of 26 health professionals, including six doctors, who also brought 40 mobile and 10 stationary ventilators, 150 infusion pumps and so many other hospital beds, the German military team arrived in Portugal on February 3 and stayed at the Hospital da Luz, in Lisbon.
