Police have arrested BJP leader Rakesh Singh and his two sons in connection with the drugs case of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Pamela Goswami in Bengal. He was on his way to Delhi from East Burdwan in Bengal on Tuesday night when his phone was tracked and arrested by Kolkata police. He will be brought to the city Wednesday morning and will appear in court. Rakesh Singh alleged that it was a conspiracy hatched by the ruling Trinamool Congress to implicate him in the case. He angrily commented that he would break into my house in the middle of the night and arrest my children. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh and other BJP leaders have condemned the arrest of Rakesh Singh. Police said they had been told to go to Rakesh’s house three times and never went. Police said his two sons Shivam Singh and Suvam Singh prevented him from doing his duty and misbehaved.
Rakesh Singh was summoned by the Khakis under Section 160 of the Indian Penal Code for leaking his name during an investigation into a drugs case. The Calcutta High Court dismissed the petition filed by Rakesh Singh challenging these. Rakesh initially said that he had an appointment in Delhi and therefore he was not available. There are more than two dozen criminal cases against him.
Pamela Goswami was arrested in Kolkata for carrying 100 grams of cocaine in her purse.
