In his first act as president, a PP deputy rejected the formation of the group led by the MDB; election for Bureau vacancies is scheduled for 18h

Luis Macedo / Chamber of DeputiesLira Group wants to prevent the process from going to the Supreme Court

After canceling the formation of the Rossi Whale (MDB-SP), his main opponent in the election for the presidency of Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), elected on Monday night, 1st, now seeks an agreement with parliamentarians from parties allied with the emedebista. The idea is to avoid judicializing the election of the Board of Directors of the House. According to the Young pan with Lira’s interlocutors, the idea is to offer two of the six positions to parties such as the PT and the PSDB. Deputies from the bloc led by the MDB have been meeting since the beginning of this Tuesday afternoon to debate whether they accept the proposal – the possibility of appealing to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) is not ruled out. The vote for the remaining positions of the Bureau is scheduled for 18h.

In his first act as mayor, Lira rejected the registration of the Rossi Whale bloc on the grounds that the PT lost by six minutes the statutory deadline stipulated in the system to support the MDB candidate – opposition MPs say there was a flaw in the Casa system. At the leaders’ meeting that took place on Monday afternoon, hours before the voting started, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), still president, deferred the formation of the bloc. The decision was the trigger for a fight between Maia and Lira. As the Young Pan showed, irritated by Maia’s stance, Lira slapped the table and was scolded. “Your Excellency is not in Alagoas”, said the deputy of the DEM. “I am also not on the Rio de Janeiro hill”, countered the PP deputy.

After Lira’s decision, parties from the Rossi Whale bloc released a note, in which they “repudiate, with the most intense vehemence, the authoritarian, anti-regimental and illegal act” practiced by the parliamentarian. “The election is one: you can’t just accept the part that matters. In doing so, facing the most basic rules of an election – not changing its rules after it has been held – the said deputy puts the governability of the House at serious risk. If you insist on this path, you will lose any condition to preside over it, since your first act discredits what you just said: that you would decide impartially. It was the fastest demoralization of a speech ever seen. The only voice that he accepts to be heard at the Board of Directors of the Chamber is the voice of those who agree with him. Those who dare to defend a proud Chamber, he wants to shut up, already in his first movement, trying to crush the representativeness of our parties and our bloc ”, adds the document.
