President classified as “inadmissible” the readjustment of 39%, announced by the state-owned company
The president Jair Bolsonaro stated that the increase in gas price announced by Petrobras this week is “unacceptable”. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new Brazilian general director of Itaipu, General João Francisco Ferreira, Bolsonaro said he would not interfere with the state-owned company. The president stressed, however, that he can change the company’s “pricing policy” with the support of Chamber of Deputies. “It is a company that, more than transparency, has to be predictable. It is unacceptable to announce, now, the old president still, a readjustment of 39% in gas. It is unacceptable, what are these contracts? What agreements were these? Were they made with Brazil in mind? ”, He asked.
The statements come after the announcement, on Monday, 5, that prices for the sale of natural gas distributors will have a 39% jump as of May 1st. At the ceremony in Foz do Iguaçu, in the state of Paraná, Bolsonaro also said that he will again send a bill that aims to provide transparency to the price policy in the country. According to the president, the text should be put on the agenda in the Chamber within a period of 15 to 20 days.
