The lawyer specialized in electoral law, Arthur Rollo, explains the possible consequences for the PSOL member, if the irregularity is proven

PAULO GUERETA / AGENCY THE DAY / STATE CONTENTAccording to a lawyer, the lack of updated information from companies already demonstrates the lack of transparency and “empties” Boulos’ speech

The ex-candidate for the Mayor of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos (PSOL), you may have to return R $ 28 thousand in 2020 election campaign intended for an alleged “ghost company“. THE Electoral Public Ministry investigates the denunciation of the use of front institutions in the municipal dispute in the São Paulo capital last year. THE lawyer specializing in electoral law, Arthur Rollo, explains the first conclusions of the Electoral Justice on the case. According to him, the Public Ministry has already concluded that one of the investigated companies, which would have received the value for the campaign’s shares, was not found. “There is strong evidence that it is a ghost company. Now, the Boulos campaign will have to justify why it spent R $ 28,000 on a company that the Public Ministry did not find. If that company is a ghost, if there was a false statement, where did this money go, all of this will need to be clarified ”, he said. The complaint about possible irregularities in two companies hired by the member of the PSOL was made by journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio. Also during the electoral dispute, also candidate Celso Russomanno even questioned Boulos on the subject. In November, the court even asked Whatsapp to block a video used by Russomanno’s campaign against his opponent and which addressed the topic.

In an interview with Jornal da Manhã, Young pan, this Saturday, 13, Arthur Rollo detailed the possible consequences if the complaint is confirmed. According to him, the lack of updated information from companies already demonstrates the lack of transparency and “empties” the speech of Boulos, who says he is a victim of fake news and chase. “One thing that is already demonstrated is the lack and transparency, it is not persecution. It can set up a crime of falsehood for electoral purposes, it can show irregularity of the accounts provided and these R $ 28 thousand will have to be returned. It is not a very large sum of money, but for those who propagate I argue that everything is perfect, I empty the discourse when the money is applied to a company that cannot be located ”, he said. Although it may have a negative impact, a possible confirmation of the complaint will not have political consequences for Guilherme Boulos. “You can’t say that he will be prevented from running, possibly it may be another criminal case that he has, he has others, this time in the Electoral Court. Everything will depend on the count. He says he is a victim of fake news, but there has been time, since December, for the alleged owner to regularize the company’s address, if he did not do so, everything indicates that it is a ghost company. The accounts will be judged, there may be a criminal conviction of whoever declared that information, probably false. ”
