Prime Time Zone, Telangana Bureau: The Gulf Workers’ Joint Action Committee (GWCC) has asked the Center to immediately repeal a circular issued by the Center reducing the minimum wages of workers in the Gulf countries. A team of 8 JAC members left Manchirala for Delhi by train on Saturday to make their wall heard. Speaking on the occasion, JAC convener Ravi Gowda said that despite repeated appeals to the Center on the issues of Gulf workers, there was no response. Nine MPs in Delhi will be hearing their grievances together as Parliament convenes from Monday. The circular is expected to affect 88 lakh Indian workers and employees in the six Arab Gulf countries. Due to this, each worker gets a salary of only Rs 15,000, which will lead to further poverty. He demanded that the circular be repealed and the old wages be maintained. Gulf JAC Qatar spokeswoman Tota Dharmender said the Qatari government had legislated for a minimum wage of 1,000 riyals and accommodation for workers in all countries, but that the Indian government would send its workers for 728 riyals ($ 200).
