Corona Effect: Almost all the systems in the country have come to a standstill due to the corona epidemic. Schools and colleges in particular, however, were completely shut down. Right now the corona effect on the cortex is diminishing .. With the availability of the Kovid vaccine everyone is breathing down their necks. It is in this context that educational institutions across the country are also being opened. Many states have already reopened schools and colleges and started classes. However, the Azim Premji Foundation conducted a survey of students in the wake of the resumption of schools after a gap of almost nine months. Unexpectedly interesting things came to light in that survey. As the students were away from school for nine months, they found that they had forgotten the vital aspects of education as well as the small things necessary for daily life. Let us now look at some of the interesting things that emerged from this survey.
The Azim Premji Foundation conducted a survey on the situation of students who have not touched the book for months and are away from learning. The survey found that students had lost their ability in many areas. Found that children from 2nd to 6th grade almost lost their ability in language learning. Similarly 82 per cent of people have lost a certain ability in mathematics, the survey said. Examining 3rd grade students .. 48% of children .. forget additions and subtractions too. Another 50 percent of students lose the ability to answer oral questions after listening to the text. The worse the numbers, the less likely they are to do even basic arithmetic.
About 20% of students in 2nd grade do not even recognize a single digit number. At the same time, 37 percent of 3rd graders say that when asked about two-digit numbers, they give graphic answers. What is even more surprising is that 11 per cent of 4th class students could not tell the time by looking at the ‘clock’. About 70 percent of students in the same class are unable to tell the value of digit space. Fifty-five percent of 5th graders are unable to multiply two-digit numbers. About 60 percent of students in 6th grade can’t even say right and left. Also .. The survey company said that most of the students from 2nd to 6th class have lost awareness in many aspects. Forty-six percent of students fail a test if they are shown a toy and asked to comment on it. 23% of students do not even read at least one newspaper. They can’t even read textbooks like that.
Looking at this survey .. the corona epidemic seems to have severely damaged not only the lives of the people .. but also the learning ability of the students.
