Portugal registered this Sunday 2,306 new cases of infection by covid-19 and eight more deaths, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

This Sunday, Portugal registers eight deaths attributed to covid-19, 2,306 new cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and an increase in admissions to wards and intensive care, according to official data.

According to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) 923 people with covid-19 are hospitalized today, 28 more compared to Saturday, 200 of which in intensive care, plus five in the last 24 hours.

The Lisbon and Vale do Tejo area with 770 cases and the North region with 874 have 71.2% of the total of new infections verified in the last 24 hours.

The eight deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region (5), in the North region (2) and in the Alentejo region (1).

With regard to age groups, seven of the fatal victims were over 80 years old and one between 70 and 79.
