THE Daft Punk, one of the most revolutionary duos in world music, announced the end on Monday (22). The split was disclosed in a video on the duo’s YouTube channel called Epilogue.
In the video, lasting eight minutes, the duo appears walking side by side and then apart, with one of them moving away. Then, they “explode” and the date of the formation and end of Daft Punk appears on the screen (1993 to 2021).
The duo’s manager also confirmed to the magazine Variety the end of Parisian duo electronic music.
The reason for the split was not disclosed. The French duo was formed by Thomas Bangalter e Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo that were together since 1993. The first album by Daft Punk left in 1997 and the duo was already nominated for the Grammy Awards the following year.
The pair won six Grammy Awards – including Album of the Year for “Random Access Memories”, a disc that featured the megahit “Get Lucky”. Other well-known hits by the duo are ‘One More Time’, ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’.
