The Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the Supreme Federal Court (STF), authorized the federal deputy Daniel Silveira (PSL-RJ) to defend itself by videoconference in the cassation process filed against him at the Ethics Council of Chamber of Deputies. The Bolsonar parliamentarian was arrested on Tuesday, 16, after the publication of a video with attacks on members of the Supreme Court and with support for Institutional Act nº 5 (AI-5), the most repressive of the Military Dictatorship.
“To avoid any prejudice to the exercise of the broader right of defense of the parliamentarian, I authorize the adoption, by the Command of the Special Prison Battalion of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in their own facilities, of the measures necessary for the parliamentarian’s participation in the relevant meetings by the Ethics Council, by videoconference. The custodian may be accompanied by his lawyer, ”says the dispatch. Daniel Silveira will have 20 minutes to speak in the session of analysis of the preliminary opinion on the cassation. Under the House regulations, the deputy has the right to speak at all stages of the process.
