The first draft of the deconfination plan has already arrived in São Bento and will be presented at the Infarmed meeting, scheduled for next Monday.
The team of experts – led by Óscar Felgueiras, from ARS / Norte, and by Raquel Duarte, pulmonologist and former secretary of state for António Costa – delivered to the Government a plan very different from the one that was implemented in May last year.
Contrary to the previous one, which defined three distinct phases with dates for the opening of the country, the new deconfiguration plan no calendar. Government source confirmed to the weekly Express that, instead, it will be the public health criteria that unlock the next step.
Basically, the plan has no end: the lack of definition ends only when the public health criteria are met and will be linked to the screening and vaccination campaigns, which will accelerate in the month of April.
In addition, there is another feature that makes the plan different from the one in May 2020, which has to do with execution. According to the weekly, this plan foresees that the deflation will progress in two different plans: one with a survey of activities to be carried out. National level and another to local level.
This lack of definition will therefore be done at various speeds, as there will be counties or regions to suspect more quickly than others.
Differentiation does not appeal to all parties, despite having the support of the PSD. The leader of the largest opposition party had already defended that the country should “have a lack of definition by regions”, including in schools.
Last week, Prime Minister António Costa had already guaranteed that the deflation will be “gradual, progressive, differentiated according to types of activity, perhaps differentiated according to locations, always associated with objective criteria”.
In relation to schools, it seems certain that they will be the first to reopen. THE Express advances that on the table is the opening of daycare centers and pre-school in March, but the subject is not yet closed.
If the draft plan reaches consensus at Infarmed, next Monday, everything will be more cautious than the deflation of May. “From the outset, we have much more information. It will have to be cautious, in order to avoid a fourth wave, ”a source close to the Prime Minister told the morning man.
