26th January violence: Delhi Police have arrested two more key accused in the Delhi Red Fort violence case. The Delhi Crime Branch police on Tuesday arrested two leaders of the Jammu Farmers ‘Association for allegedly causing violence during a farmers’ parade in Delhi on January 26, officials said. Farmers held a tractor rally in the capital on January 26 against the new agricultural laws introduced by the Center. Violence erupted in Red Fort, Delhi and other places during this period. A key accused in the incident, Jammu and Kashmir United Kisan Front president Mohinder Singh, 45, as well as Mandeep Singh, 23, of Jammu, were arrested by the Delhi Crime Branch police on Monday night and shifted to Delhi for questioning, officials said.
Delhi Police official Anil Mittal said the two had played a key role in the Red Fort incident. Mohinder Singh’s wife alleged that her husband did not go to the Red Fort and took part in a protest on the Delhi border during a tractor rally, but was called and arrested by the police for questioning. She demanded the release of her husband.
