The president had this option, since vaccination for his age group, 66 years old, started in the Federal District
The president Jair Bolsonaro preferred not to be vaccinated this Saturday, 3, against Covid-19. He had this option, since vaccination for his age group, 66 years old, started in the federal District. Three drive-thru vaccination stations were open from nine to three in the afternoon. Ministers and auxiliaries tried to convince the president to get the vaccine, in a ceremony in which the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, would apply the first dose of the Oxford / AstraZeneca immunizer to the president. But Bolsonaro was reluctant. Instead, Bolsonaro took a motorcycle tour with the Minister of Defense, General Braga Netto, and visited a community in Itapoã, a satellite city in the Federal District. The president again criticized measures of social isolation and denied that he is encouraging a “political war”.
“More and more, more unemployment, more closes everything, more ‘stay at home’. More and more people are eating less, some experiencing very serious needs and we have to overcome this, ”said the president. Upon arrival at the Alvorada Palace, Jair Bolsonaro was asked about the fact that he did not get vaccinated. According to him, if they think he should be vaccinated, “there would be no problem” in seeking a health post. The president also celebrated the two consecutive days that the country applied one million vaccines a day against covid-19 and said that he hopes to soon reach “a large number of vaccinees”. Regarding the difference between the number of doses distributed by the Federal Government and the number of doses applied, he admitted that “better communication between states and municipalities with the Ministry of Health” is lacking.
