Climate change activist Disharavi has asked the Delhi High Court to direct the police not to leak their investigation information. To this end, she filed a petition in court, demanding that the content of her private chat be kept out of the way of khakis, and that some private TV channels be banned from broadcasting or publishing her WhatsApp conversations. Asked to clamp down on those channels. Disharavi said the channels were violating cable TV network regulations and leaking investigative information to the media was a violation of privacy and privacy rights. She alleged that the Delhi Police was arbitrarily violating Article 21 of the Constitution.
Senior Advocate Akhil Sibal, appearing for Disharavi, said TV channels had been reporting on her chats since the day after her client was arrested by the police. Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who argued on behalf of the Center, sarcastically remarked that the petition filed by Disharavi was seeking media attention. He said the police would see to it that no items related to their information were leaked and would file an affidavit to this effect. The court, which issued notices to the TV channels, said it would hear the petition on Friday.
