Former Social Democrat Desidério Silva will present his candidacy as independent to the Mayor of Albufeira at the beginning of March.
According to the newspaper Public, after 30 years as a PSD activist, Desidério Silva, who has presided over the Chamber of Albufeira for three consecutive terms, will now star in a candidacy led by the Independent Movement Desidério by Albufeira.
According to the morning man, the ex-mayor made this decision because the current PSD leadership will have ignored your availability to help the party in the fight against municipalities.
“I informed the party of my availability to help in the local elections to be part of some projects where it could be useful, but I was left with no answer. Now, when they don’t need us, what we should do is get out so we are not over and that’s what I did. The Doctor. Rui Rio and the party knew my CV very well, but they did not want my help ”, said the candidate.
The former president of the Algarve Tourism Region, a role he assumed after leaving the Albufeira Chamber in 2012, said that the municipal process is ahead and that it is being done according to local electoral law.
“I already have the lists for the municipal bodies almost closed – in some parishes I already have the complete lists – and they are independent, but also people linked to the PSD and the PS,” said Desidério Silva.
The candidate highlighted the “Total freedom” you have to make lists and present ideas without being “pressured by Lisbon or Faro or by a local political commission” and revealed that his knowledge of the municipality helps you find the “right people” for your new project.
