According to an article published by the newspaper The State of São Paulo, the army general would have sent a message to the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), conditioning the execution of the election to the approval of the PEC of the printed vote, authored by the federal deputy Kicis Beer (PSL-DF), ally of the president Jair Bolsonaro in Congress. In a note, Braga Netto said that the publication generates “disinformation” and added that he does not communicate with heads of another Power through interlocutors.
The submission of shares to the PGR is protocol. The institution will now have to assess whether there are signs of crimes. If there is no evidence, the Attorney’s Office can ask for the case to be dropped. The requests for investigation are signed by deputies Natália Bonavides (PT-RN), Bohn Gass (PT-PR), Alexandre Frota (PSDB-SP) and by lawyer Ronan Wielewski Botelho. In the petition, Bonavides affirms that Braga Netto “has a behavior that is really harmful to democracy in the exercise of his office” and adds that, since the military man took over the Ministry of Defense, “the frequency of military crises has increased”.
