Double Decker Buses In Hyderabad: Once upon a time, Hyderabad was famous for its Charminar, Tank Bund, Golconda as well as double decker buses. Those coming from rural areas would definitely like to take a double decker bus and get around the town. But over time, double-decker buses disappeared.
These have been replaced by Metro Expresses, Metro Deluxe and AC buses. However, the craze for double-decker buses has not abated. It was during this sequence that the RTC again fell into the task of running these buses on city roads. In another two months, double-decker buses will return to Bhagya Nagar. However, unlike in the past, they are now appearing in a modern look. As part of this, tenders were also invited for buses. A pre-bid meeting will be held on February 18 to clarify the manufacturers on how the buses should be. The RTC plans to pilot 25 buses initially. Double-decker buses will be diverted to Route No. 229 (Secunderabad-Medchal), Route No. 219 (Secunderabad-Patancheru) and Route No. 218 (Kothi-Patancheru), Route No. 9X (CBS-Jeedimetla), Route No. 118 (Afzalganj-Mehidipatnam) and a bus will be diverted over the newly constructed cable bridge over Durgam Pond.
