Hydrogen Fuel Car: The Central Government has been working for some time to promote electric vehicles as an alternative to petrol and diesel vehicles. It also announced a discount on the purchase of electric vehicles. The central government plans to reduce the use of petrol and diesel vehicles in the future due to pollution from the environment and promote electric vehicles. Already, auto companies are focusing on electric vehicles. These cars take about an hour to two hours to fully charge. However, the central government has launched the National Hydrogen Mission to check the problem. As part of this, batteries used in electric vehicles will be charged and powered by hydrogen gas. Doing so will not only generate electricity in the car but also drive the vehicle in a clean manner using only water and heat.
These have many advantages over regular battery vehicles. The use of hydrogen gas, which is widely available in the atmosphere, can reduce pollution and protect the environment. In addition, the use of petrol and diesel can be significantly reduced. The car can be refueled with hydrogen in seconds in the same way that petrol is refueled in vehicles. The United States Department of Energy has announced a $ 100 million investment in research and development on hydrogen gas. India’s National Hydrogen Mission announced four months after the US Department of Energy’s decision.
Launch of pilot project in Delhi
Meanwhile, a road map is being drawn up on how to use hydrogen as a fuel source through this mission undertaken by the Central Government. Central government officials say green hydrogen could be used as an alternative fuel to petrol and diesel to protect the environment. The pilot project has already been launched in Delhi. Six months ago, it launched hydrogen-spiked compressed natural gas-powered vehicles in Delhi. This made Delhi the first Indian city to run on hydrogen gas. Public sector undertaking NTPC Ltd has also launched a pilot project to operate 10 hydrogen fuel cell based electric buses and fuel cell electric cars in Lam, Delhi. The AP government is planning to set up a green hydrogen production plant. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) hopes to set up a special unit to produce hydrogen at its R&D center in Faridabad.
