In an interview with Panico, the head of the Ministry of Communications analyzed that the president should reach re-election because ‘the hangover of PT governments is very strong’
Head of the Ministry of Communications, the Minister Fabio Faria stated during participation in the program Panic, gives Young pan, on Tuesday, 15th, which has already defined the political scenario for the 2022 elections. The minister considers that only two politicians will dispute the presidential seat – the current occupant, Jair Bolsonaro (no party), and the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT). “The scenario is set, it will be Lula and Bolsonaro. The center can even try, but it won’t be able to launch a strong name for the dispute. The situation is polarized”, he said. Still considering the candidacies, Faria analyzed that Bolsonaro should win the elections.
“Right now, Lula is living his best phase because he has just become eligible. Bolsonaro, on the other hand, is dealing with the problems of the pandemic, facing a situation where people are nervous, in lockdown. Despite this, the scenario in the future will be reversed. Bolsonaro will be much better off in three or four months because the economy will show stronger signs of growth. With the positive result, he will be the favorite in the elections. Lula knows that it will be a very difficult dispute and is trying to ally himself with the center, but his government’s hangover is very strong. I doubt Brazilians will vote for the PT, Bolsonaro is the favorite for 2022. When the game closes, the group will remember the PT scandals and will refuse to vote for the party”, he added. The data for the month of June from the XP/Ipespe electoral poll indicate a technical tie between Lula and Bolsonaro in an eventual runoff in the race for the Planalto Palace. The PT member concentrates 32% of voting intentions, while the current president adds 28%. As the survey’s margin of error is 3.2 percentage points, the situation is a technical tie.
