Content On Demand Indian Railways: Indian Railways will soon launch new services for the convenience of passengers. Entertainment will be provided to the passengers so that they no longer get the idea that train journey means boredom. During this time, travelers can jolly journey by watching their favorite movies and entertainment.
As part of this, the Railway Department will launch Content ‘On-Demand’ (COD) services. From now on, travelers can watch preloaded movies, videos as well as various entertainment programs. Bogie will set up servers so that the videos can be played without any buffering. A total of 8,731 trains, of which 5,723 are suburban trains, will launch COD services at 5,952 overcrowded railway stations. These services are currently being piloted on the Western Railway on the Rajdhani Express and AC suburban bogies. This testing has reached its final stage. These services will be fully available once testing is complete. The Railways expects to earn at least Rs 60 crore a year from the project. The Railways has entered into an agreement with Margo Networks, a subsidiary of Zee Entertainment, for these services, which will be available at railway stations as well as trains. These services will be fully available in the next two years.
