Investigations into the Operation Akuanduba, which have as one of the targets the former minister of the Environment Ricardo Salles, were sent to the Federal Court of Pará. The transfer took place by decision of the minister Alexandre de Moraes, do Supreme Federal Court (STF), which responded to a request from the Federal police (PF) this Tuesday, 20. In the decision, Moraes argues that the crimes took place in the city of Altamira, Pará, which, in his view, guarantees competence for the investigation to take place there. “The evidence produced indicates, at this procedural moment, that the crimes would have occurred, primarily, in the municipality of Altamira/PA”, said the minister. The PF is investigating an alleged scheme that would involve public agents and businessmen to legalize illegally sourced wood. Salles left the command of the Ministry of the Environment on June 23 this year, being replaced by Joaquim Alvaro Pereira Leite.
