Another setback for the Trinamool Congress comes as the notification of elections to the West Bengal Assembly comes out. Rajya Sabha MP and former Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi has expressed shock to CM Mamata Banerjee. The Rajya Sabha witness announced that the MP was resigning. Dinesh Trivedi has announced that anarchy is reigning in Bengal and that he will resign as an MP as he cannot tolerate the politics of violence. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang’s resignation. Trivedi said he would do his best to bring peace to Bengal.

Addressing a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the budget, Trivedi surprised everyone by announcing his resignation. Trivedi told the House that after seeing the violence in his state, he had to follow his “conscience” and was therefore resigning. However, he said he would work for his Bengal, for the country. Dramatic developments took place in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. However, it is known that Trivedi is campaigning to join the BJP soon.
