O biggest yacht in the world was announced this week. With 39 apartments spread over six floors, with prices starting at 11 million dollars per unit, it will be a luxury condominium on the high seas.
At 728 feet long (approximately 222 meters), the vessel named Somnio will be launched in 2024. Currently, the Azzam, the world’s largest yacht, is 180 meters long.
With a construction cost of US$600 million, each apartment will have a gym, kitchen, gym, library and indoor and outdoor dining spaces.
In addition, the owners will have a shared cellar and 10,000-bottle tasting room, as well as restaurants, bars, a bow lounge and a beach club. To ensure the well-being of sailors, the yacht will also have high standard medical assistance. However, only those who are invited will be able to purchase the apartments.
Somnio will give buyers “the intimacy of a private yacht but a chance to network in a vibrant community of like-minded owners,” investors said, according to the Financial Times.
Behind the project are Carl Le Souef, responsible for Somnio Global, the sustainable technology organization, the Swedish design company Tillberg Design and Winch Design, based in London. According to the companies, sustainability is the main focus of the project. Thus, the yacht will feature the latest clean engine technologies and advanced equipment to assist marine scientists and specialists in ocean research.
