Shortly after the announcement of the arrest of the federal deputy, Daniel Silveira (PSL – RJ), the president of Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (Progressives), posted a statement on their social networks citing the episode as’ a time of great apprehension ‘and informing his followers that’ he will be guided by Constitution‘in dealing with the issue. “As I have always said and believe, the Chamber should not reflect the will or position of an individual, but of the collective of its collegiate bodies, of its instances and of its sovereign will, the Plenary”, wrote the deputy.
“In this hour of great apprehension, I want to reassure everyone and reiterate that I will conduct the current episode with serenity and awareness of my responsibilities to the Institution and Democracy. To this end, I will be guided by the only legitimate compass in the democratic regime, the Constitution. And due to the only civilized means of exercising Democracy, dialogue and respect for the majority opinion of the institution I represent ”, he added. Among the followers, many called for a harsh reaction by Lira against the Superior Federal Court – STF.
