Municipal Elections: Panchayat elections are over in AP. There are more municipal elections. Recently, state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar held a video conference with officials on Monday. Nimmagadda directed the authorities on the steps to be taken on the municipal elections. Nimmagadda lauded the authorities for conducting the panchayat elections efficiently. He said 81.78 per cent polling was recorded in the panchayat elections held in the state. He suggested that the authorities take steps to further increase the turnout in the municipal elections.
He said steps should be taken to ensure that the elections are held in a peaceful atmosphere and that all the people participate in the elections voluntarily. Ballot boxes and other supplies are to be prepared by the time of elections. They also want to increase surveillance through webcasting, CCTV cameras and videography. Nota is also being included in the ballot as per the election rules, he said, adding that the polling stations should strictly adhere to the Kovid rules. Officials said the election should be more focused on the party symbol. Nimmagadda Ramesh warned that strict action should be taken against those who violate the election code.
