Nigeria Plane Crash: Seven people were killed when a military plane crashed in the Nigerian capital Abuja on Sunday. The plane was about to take off for a survey to rescue children and teachers who had been kidnapped from a school on the outskirts of Abuja. The kidnappers killed a student of the school and abducted a total of 42 people. Of these, 27 were students, three were teachers and relatives of school staff. The Nigerian government has expressed grave concern over the mass kidnapping incident. President Buhari ordered the police and army to rescue those held hostage by the thugs.
The military plane crashed on its way to this ‘mission’. Authorities said the pilot blamed engine failure. Firefighters worked to put out the blaze at the crash site. The government has ordered an inquiry into the plane crash. In Nigeria, incidents of thugs kidnapping innocent students and people to meet their demands and threaten the government have become routine.
