Onion Prices: On the one hand, petrol, diesel and gas prices are on the rise, but now onion prices are also skyrocketing. The life of the common man is becoming questionable with the rise of prices one behind the other. Onion that used to shed tears without being harvested in the past .. now it seems to bring the same situation again. Currently, onion prices have doubled in the last few weeks in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Earlier this year, the price of onion was Rs 25-30 per kg, but now it is selling at Rs 60-70 per kg. This made it even more burdensome for the common man. As prices rise, people are increasingly incensed at governments. The onion crop in Maharashtra was badly damaged due to last year’s rains.

Supply also declined due to lack of production. Now its impact is visible on prices. Onion price has risen over two rates in the last few weeks. In the past, onions were sold at the wholesale price of Rs 30-40 per kg at the APMC market in Navi Mumbai. Onions are currently selling at Rs 50 to Rs 60 per kg in Mumbai, Pune and Thane retail markets.

Meanwhile, the wholesale price of onions in Lasalgaon, the country’s largest wholesale onion market, has risen from 15 per cent to 20 per cent in the last 10 days. According to the website of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, onion is priced at Rs 54 per ounce. On the other hand, rising petrol and diesel prices are also a major reason. Because freight is more expensive. On January 1, diesel price in Delhi was Rs 73.87 per liter and today it is Rs 78.38 per liter.
