Leaders of PT, PSB, PDT, PCdoB, PSOL and Rede consider that deputy Bolsonarista ‘broke decorum by attacking the Constitution and institutions’
The opposition parties will represent the federal deputy Daniel Silveira (PSL-RJ) at the Ethics Council of Chamber of Deputies. In a meeting held on the afternoon of this Thursday, 17, the leaders of PT, PSB, PDT, PCdoB, PSOL and REDE defined the strategy that will be adopted in the case involving the Bolsonar parliamentarian, arrested on Wednesday night, 16, after the publication of a video on social networks, with attacks and curses on the ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), in particular to the Minister Edson Fachin.
“The parties will represent deputy Daniel Silveira to the Ethics Council. This will be a request from all parties and leaders. We believe that the deputy broke decorum by attacking the Constitution and institutions, in addition to systematically confronting democratic freedoms. Our benches will position themselves for maintaining the prison of the offending deputy and we reinforce the importance of open voting on this issue ”, says an excerpt from a note released this Tuesday afternoon. It will be up to the Chamber to analyze whether the deputy’s prison is maintained or revoked.
Earlier, the STF unanimously endorsed the minister’s decision Alexandre de Moraes, which determined the arrest of Silveira. In his vote, Moraes said that the parliamentarian’s manifestations intend “to destroy the democratic regime together with its republican institutions, preaching violence, arbitration and disrespect to the separation of powers”. “Conduct and demonstrations that have the clear purpose of controlling and annihilating the force of critical thinking, including criticism of the Judiciary and STF, are unconstitutional, as well as those that intend to destroy the democratic regime together with their republican institutions, preaching violence, agency, disrespect for the separation of powers. In short, statements pleading for tyranny, arbitrariness, violence, the breach of republican principles, as seen by Daniel Silveira’s criminal and inconsequential demonstrations ”, highlighted Moraes.
President of the STF, Minister Luiz Fux stated, at the opening of the session, that the STF “remains vigilant against any form of hostility to the institution. Offending authorities, beyond the limits allowed by freedom of expression, which we so consecrate in the Supreme Federal Court, necessarily requires prompt action by the Court ”. Dean of the Court, Minister Marco Aurélio Mello also gave a hard message to the deputy. “I am 74 years old, 42 in judiciary collegiate bodies, and I never imagined witnessing or experiencing what I experienced, I never imagined that a speech could be so acid, so aggressive, so foul, regarding institutions”, he said.
