PF is not mandatory for voter registration: High Court

Prime Time Zone, Epiburo: The High Court on Friday issued a key order regarding voter registration in the Krishna, Guntur and Ubhaya Godavari MLC elections. The state high court single bench headed by Justice V. Seshasai has issued directions on several key issues related to the voter registration process, removing the provision that PF membership is mandatory, which is a major obstacle for private educators to register as teacher MLC election voters.

Professor Kota Saikrishna, state president of the Welfare Association of Private Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges, has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking removal of the provision and extension of the voter registration process. The High Court heard the petition. Orders were issued to remove the mandatory item of the PF provision in the voter registration process.
