This Wednesday Portugal registered 161 more deaths and 4,387 positive cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 14,718 deaths and 774,889 positive cases of covid-19. Currently there are 123,321 active cases, 4,555 less than yesterday.
The DGS bulletin reports that there are over 8,781 recovered patients disease, which brings the total number of people cured to 636,859.
THE number of hospitalizations fell again significantly for the second day in a row. There are now 5,829 people admitted to hospitals (241 fewer than yesterday), 853 of whom are in intensive care units (nine fewer than the day before).
Health authorities still have 162,566 contacts under surveillance, 8,988 less than the previous day.
Of the 161 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 33 occurred in the North, 31 in the Centro region, 77 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 12 in the Alentejo, six in the Algarve, one in Madeira and another in the Azores.
Of the new cases, 1,050 were recorded in the North, 775 in the Centro region, 2,192 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 185 in the Alentejo, 129 in the Algarve, 47 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and nine in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
