Portugal registered, this Monday, 1,855 new cases and eight deaths following the infection by covid-19, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

The North region leads the number of new cases, with 755 new infections in the last 24 hours (40.7% of the total). It follows Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 624 infections, the Algarve with 231, the Center with 127, the Alentejo with 61, the Azores with 32 and Madeira with 25.

Of the eight deaths registered in the last 24 hours, five occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, two in the Algarve and one in the North.

The number of hospitalized went back up this Monday. There are now 851 people interned in the country due to covid-19 (46 more than on Sunday). Of these, 181 are in Intensive Care Units (five more than yesterday).

Portugal now has more than 52,000 active covid-19 cases, a rise of 465 within 24 hours.

In the so-called risk matrix, at national level, Portugal has an incidence of 14 days of 391.0 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants and a transmissibility index R

On the continent, the incidence is now at 403.0 cases of infection and the transmissibility index R
