During his visit to Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Modi lauded the farmers there. Modi congratulated the Tamil Nadu farmers for achieving record foodgrain production this year. Speaking at an event in Chennai on Sunday, Modi lauded the farmers for making efficient use of water resources and reaping huge yields. He urged the farmers to work towards conserving water without wasting energy and to make every drop of water more productive.
The Prime Minister is also on a visit to Tamil Nadu to inaugurate several infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the Chennai Metro Rail. Modi said he was happy to see the launch of a 9-km line on the Metro Rail Malidasa. Officials and contractors said the project was completed on time as the Corona pandemic chased. He said the Chennai Metro would go faster. In this year’s budget, Metro has allocated Rs 63,000 crore for the second phase. He said this is the first time that any city project has been allocated such huge funds at this level. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the inauguration of infrastructure projects in the run-up to the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
