The president of the PSD today considered it necessary to prepare a plan for the country’s lack of definition, and in particular for the return to face-to-face education, establishing a progressive opening taking into account scientific indicators.
“[O desconfinamento] it must be gradual. We confined gradually, and that was a bad thing, we should have come in stronger and brutally. At the exit, I think the opposite, which must be gradually and it shouldn’t be one day to be everything and the next day to be nothing ”, defended Rui Rio, speaking to journalists, at a press conference in Porto.
Stressing that this is essentially a scientific issue, the Social Democrat considered that political power must listen and obey “the scientific logic” and only then assume your responsibilities.
In that sense, he said he tended to agree with the Prime Minister, António Costa, arguing that, in his view, the lack of definition can only happen when a certain indicator is reached.
Questioned by journalists, Rio admitted, however, that this indicator should have already been defined by the Government, based on the opinion of experts, although he agrees that at this moment it is not possible to set a date to start the deflation.
“You can’t demand that because we don’t know when that number will be reached,” he said.
The Social Democratic leader argued that the Government must also prepare a plan for the return to face-to-face education, setting a goal.
“When we reach an R of X or a number of infected Y, we open up to 12 years old, for example. There is nothing like planning and thinking things through ”, he explained, stressing that the issue of opening schools is “a determining factor in contact networks”.
In an interview with Renascença, this morning, the Minister of Education, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, announced that the Physical Education and Artistic Expressions tests were canceled and the national exams were postponed.
