Later, Shipping and Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandvi introduced the Major Port Authorities Bill 2020. In this order, 84 members supported the bill. 44 people voted against it.

Mansukh Mandavia said the bill was introduced by the central government to give autonomy to the regulation, operation and planning of the country’s major ports. He said the bill would help provide world-class facilities to ports. Following the House’s approval of the bill, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh opened the general debate on the 2021-2022 budget.
