Imprisoned in pre-trial detention since August 13, the national president of the PTB felt sick on Monday and was treated at the UPA of Complexo de Gericinó
After getting sick this Monday, 30, and being treated at the UPA in the Gericinó Complex, in Bangu, the former federal deputy and national president of the PTB, Robert Jefferson, was diagnosed with Bilateral Acute Pyelonephritis, an infection that affects the kidneys, according to a report released by the press office of the former deputy. Also according to information given to the press by the party chief’s assistants, who had been preemptively imprisoned since August 13, he is indisposed and in a feverish state, with oscillating pressure and swollen feet due to the infectious condition. Jefferson was arrested as part of an inquiry that investigates the role of “digital militias” that promote attacks on institutions and democracy.
This Tuesday, 31, the minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), maintained Jefferson’s preventive detention. The magistrate rejected the defense lawyers’ argument, who asked that the former parliamentarian be transferred to domicile because of his health. The decision came a day after the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) file a complaint against the former parliamentarian on charges of inciting crimes against national security, homophobia and slander against the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (DEM-MG). In the dispatch, Moraes wrote that Jefferson “repeatedly posted videos on his social networks attacking the Powers of the Republic and the Democratic Rule of Law, and on many occasions he carried firearms, practicing target practice”. “In none of these moments did he show any physical weakness that prevented him from practicing his daily tasks. Such allegations only emerged, coincidentally, after the decree of his preventive detention and the news of the offering of the complaint by the PGR”, said the Supreme Minister.
“In the exams carried out yesterday (30/08), after a sudden illness, Roberto Jefferson was diagnosed with Bilateral Acute Pyelonephritis, an infection that affects the kidneys. The legal team responsible for your case, at the moment, is trying to transfer you from the prison to the hospital where you have your medical record so that you can have access to treatment that is appropriate for your health condition. Jefferson is indisposed and in a feverish state, with oscillating pressure and swollen feet due to the infectious condition”, says the full note of the published statement.
