Agreement involving six of the eleven full members was closed around the name of Omar Aziz; first meeting should take place on Thursday, the 22nd
The senator Eduardo Girão (We can) launched a candidate for the presidency of CPI to Covid-19. With that, there will be a dispute for the position – since an agreement involving six of the eleven members was closed around the name of Omar Aziz | (PSD). In a publication on social networks, Pode states that the candidacy is “against the agreement of letters marked to dominate the CPI of Pandemia”. He was the author of the request for the commission to investigate governors and mayors – and not just the federal government.
He managed to collect 45 signatures and the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, authorized the CPI to also include transfers of federal funds to states and municipalities. With that, Eduardo Girão put himself in the dispute. “There is a tradition in this House, right? Many CPIs were made, that had the service rendered, and the author of the request, he automatically stayed with the presidency. I am one of the authors with the CPI request, not only with a federal focus, but also with a focus on the Union. ”
The senator denied that the choice of president is already defined. However, the tendency is for the election of Omar Aziz to be confirmed as president, with Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede) in the vice president of CPI and Renan Calheiros (MDB) as rapporteur. For Eduardo Girão, the risk of a CPI whose fund is a political platform is great. “It is very important that we do not let this CPI have a political, partisan connotation, aiming at 2022. This is not correct with the Brazilian people, with the pain and suffering of the people who suffer the consequences. We need to have an impartial technical analysis in relation to this. ”
The president will be defined at the first meeting of the CPI, which is due to take place next Thursday. Whoever has the most votes wins. Collegiate members take it for granted that Omar Aziz will have the vote of six senators: Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede), Humberto Costa (PT), Otto Alencar (PSD), Jereissati badger (PSDB), in addition to Eduardo Braga and Renan Calheiros (MDB). Eduardo Girão, on the other hand, should count on the support of the most governing wing of the CPI, composed of him, Ciro Nogueira (PP), Marcos Rogério (DEM) e Jorginho Mello (PL).
