G. Santosh Oreddy of Vaishali Nagar, Saidabad, Hyderabad demolished an old house and built a new one. The 40-year-old neem tree in front of the house was cut down in the middle of the night after everyone was asleep. Tellare did it without any landmarks. All this was noticed by an 8th class boy on the same street.
Early in the morning he phoned the forest officials and complained that he was a Green Brigadier and that action should be taken against those who cut down trees in our colony. Forest officials who responded immediately reached the colony and made an inquiry. There, Santosh Aureddy was fined Rs 62,075 for proving that he had removed a 40-year-old neem tree. Officials are of the opinion that if the initiative shown by the boy is shown by all the people, Telangana will become greener. Appreciating the boy’s timeliness, Governor Tamilsai Soundarya Rajan invited him to Raj Bhavan and honored him. She was happy to see his attention to plant breeding and tree care.
