The CDS-PP will present to Parliament a draft resolution that recommends to the Government “the immediate withdrawal of this unqualified judicial remedy, to whose vote it calls all political forces of freedom”, and calls on António Costa to promptly intervene “in the immediate resolution this unnecessary stalemate ”.
The president of the CDS-PP wants that the Ministry of Education gives up using the decision that suspended the retention of two Famalicão students who did not attend Citizenship and Development classes, and called for the intervention of the Prime Minister.
The two Famalicense students, who risk being held for two years, after having missed all Citizenship and Development classes because the parents did not allow them to attend, they are going to pass the year for now.
In a statement, the CDS leader received “with astonishment the news that the Ministry of Education appealed the precautionary sentence of the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Braga that kept the two students from Famalicão in the school year they currently attend ”and accuses the tutelage of having a“unacceptable persecutory and relentless attitude“.
According to Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos, the Ministry of Education “stubbornly insists on force the immediate withdrawal in three school years of these students, instead of waiting for the final court decision ”.
The CDS-PP will “immediately present to parliament a draft resolution that recommends the Government to immediate withdrawal of this unqualified judicial remedy, to whose vote he summons all the political forces of freedom “, and calls on the Prime Minister” his prompt intervention in the immediate resolution of this unnecessary impasse “.
“Once again, the Ministry of Education reveals not understanding that you cannot impose, in a dominant manner, his will, as if families, their freedom and their power to educate their children did not exist ”, stresses Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos.
The centrist leader considers that the ministry led by Tiago Brandão Rodrigues had a “vindictive and boastful strategy”And“ it is deeply out of touch with its priorities ”.
In the opinion of the CDS leader, the Government “should be making every effort to guarantee students the conditions to, in the context of the current pandemic, continue their learning, fulfilling the promise to deliver a computer to all children in need”.
“Since this, and so much more, remains to be it is unacceptable that resources are wasted services at the service of a radical and ideological agenda, instrumentalizing the two students and their family ”, he added.
Rodrigues dos Santos defends that “it is families, and not the State, that have the right and the duty to educate their children, with the school having the role of assisting and complementing them, with respect for a plural society ”.
The Administrative and Tax Court of Braga decided on January 22 to suspend the orders that determined the retention of two students from a school in Famalicão who, due to their parents’ determination, did not attend Citizenship and Development classes.
According to the Ministry of Education, which appealed the sentence, the order does not issue any retention order, but rather determines “that, exceptionally, recovery plans be created, as provided by law, so that students are not hampered by a decision imposed on them by the parent.
