It is common for the ruling and opposition parties to react and express their views after the budget is presented in the legislatures of any center or state. The ruling TRS party in Telangana did not comment after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget to Parliament on February 1. It is still unclear whether he supports or opposes the budget. The chief minister, ministers and ruling party leaders remained silent. Is fear the reason for this? Or political pressure? Discussions began throughout.
Prime Time Zone, Telangana Bureau: The TRS MPs brazenly remarked that they were going to have to remain silent on the budget as per the directions from the party supremacy. Expressed the view of what its reaction would be if it were spoken of, and what the consequences would be. After the KCR Delhi tour, the TRS party is facing a strange situation that cannot be swallowed. During last year’s budget, Chief Minister KCR met and consulted with advisors, financial experts, the department secretary and the general secretary within hours. ‘This is a lie .. fraud .. fraud .. injustice to Telangana కుంటే Sankaragiri Manyale if you believe the center’ KCR expressed his opinion in many ways. No such meeting was held this time. The aggression seen last year is not there this year. Chief Minister KCR was not in Hyderabad on budget day. There was also no meeting with officials. Only the Chief Secretary and the Chief Secretary to the Ministry of Finance briefly discussed the impact of the budget on Telangana.
Is it because of a trip to Delhi?
Unexpected developments have taken place in the state after Chief Minister KCR’s visit to Delhi. The TRS, which has flouted agricultural laws, has gone silent after its visit to Delhi. Not daring to act against the center. Now it has taken the position of not angering the Center even in the matter of budget. The fact that TRS became silent due to any pressure has now become a topic of discussion in state politics. BJP leader Bandi Sanjay has on several occasions demanded that the secret of KCR’s Delhi visit be revealed. Except for KCR, the party leaders do not know what happened in Delhi. An MP told reporters in Delhi that it was a policy decision of the party not to disclose the TRS ‘stance on the budget and therefore had to remain silent.
It became interesting why only the TRS had the trouble of not having all the parties express their views on the Union Budget. There are various discussions going on about the danger to the TRS if it angers the Center. The TRS leaders have remained silent on the question of why the KCR, which has said it will form an alliance with non-BJP and non-Congress parties and set up a conclave in Hyderabad to bring all the regional parties under one roof, has gone down all at once and chosen the path of being silent.
Fear? Political strategy
Opinions are being expressed from the party leaders that the TRS has decided to remain silent in view of the difficulties it is causing to the party by angering the Center, which is a political ploy. The Chief Minister held a meeting with KCR MPs before the budget meetings of the Parliament in general and stressed the attitude to be followed in both the Houses and the need to put pressure on the Center in terms of state demands. KTR held a meeting last year in the capacity of Working President.
This time, however, KCR did not hold such a meeting despite key issues such as the controversy over agricultural laws and budget allocations. On the allocations to be made to the state in the budget this time, on the guarantees given in the Appropriation Act, on the release of GST compensation, on the financial assistance given to the backward districts of the state, on the loss to the state due to the imposition of taxes by the Center in the form of cess, on the revenue lost by Telangana with the recommendations of the Economic Commission. Minister KTR wrote the letters. State government demands like Bayyaram Steel Factory, Kazipet Coach Factory, ITIR, Regional Ring Road, Triple IT, IIM, Central University status for Tribal University have not seen any guarantees in the latest budget.
During last year’s budget, some of the issues were not brought to light, saying that serious injustice was being done to Telangana. The TRS, however, maintained a tactical silence without expressing dissatisfaction or anger at the Center. The process of being spontaneous without pain seems to be considered a hoax. TRS is now the only answer to the question of fear or pressure from the center.
