Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh on Sunday said sustainable tourism was the only way to expand the tourism sector as well as bring about changes in the industry in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh participated in the 5th Skiing Graduation Ceremony held at the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) Gulmarg.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the focus was on making tourism a major source of employment creation in the country. Singh said sustainable tourism is the only way to expand the sector and bring change in JK tourism. He also said that adventure tourism would be a major attraction for domestic and foreign tourists. The Union Tourism Secretary said that with the completion of the vaccination program in the country, the flow of tourists to Gulmarg and the entire Kashmir Valley will increase many times over and travel restrictions on foreign tourists will also be relaxed.
On this occasion the Secretary distributed prizes to the players who excelled in various skiing competitions. The event was attended by Financial Adviser Union Ministry of Tourism, Gyan Bushan, Director Tourism, Kashmir GN. He said the Center was funding the states to restore infrastructure at Gulmarg and improve tourism infrastructure. The Union Tourism Secretary said that the influx of tourists to Gulmarg and the entire Kashmir Valley would increase several times and also relax the travel restrictions on foreign tourists. The Union Tourism Ministry’s financial adviser said there was a need to prepare a calendar of events to be held as part of the IISM, National Center of Excellence, to inform everyone in the country in advance about the activities and activities taking place in Gulmarg.
