Gul Panag Responds: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirat Singh Rawat has questioned whether today’s youth are seen with torn jeans on their knees, which is a symbol of our culture. He was speaking at a workshop organized by the Uttarakhand State Commission on the Protection of the Rights of the Child in Dehradun.
He objected to a woman running an NGO wearing ripped jeans. He expressed his deep dissatisfaction with being shown knees naked. He lamented that this was not really our culture and that abroad they were doing yoga in our country on the one hand and full dress while on the other hand we were running towards nudity.
His remarks have angered women across the country. He is being questioned and countered on social media. The hashtag #ripped jeans has been trending on Twitter ever since. Recently, Bollywood actress Gul Panag also responded. Shared in torn jeans and a yellow t-shirt, the little girl also stood with her. She added the hashtag #ripped jeans twitter to her tweet as her caption.
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Congress leaders and film personalities are also on fire. Bollywood Big B Amitabh Bachchan granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda also expressed her displeasure. Navya, who shared a photo of herself wearing toned jeans on Instagram, said she would feel proud to wear such a dress. They want to change your views and way of thinking before their attire. However..then..the post was deleted.
