Covid-19 didn’t deter govt from taking measures for reforms: Sitharaman
New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday addressed the Lok Sabha following a debate on the budget. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government had not given up the opportunity for reforms even in the crisis created by Corona. He said the corona mammoth had not been able to prevent the reforms being undertaken by the government and that the reforms were not conducive to the long-term development of the country.
Nirmala Sitharaman said the latest budget was a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s immense experience and governance capabilities. She said the budget has put a lot of emphasis on the health sector and it will greatly contribute to the welfare of the people of the country. The Finance Minister criticized that some people are working and criticizing the budget and saying that there is a budget to benefit the rich. He said the budget had allocated huge funds for the PM’s self-help scheme and the scheme would not have benefited the wealthy. Nirmala Sitharaman revealed that it has increased to crores.
