VISAKHAPATNAM: A fatal road accident took place at Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district. Eight people were killed when a tourist bus derailed and plunged into a valley. Another 19 were injured. A tourist bus carrying 30 passengers on Ghat Road met with an accident at turn five at Ananthagiri Mandal Damuka. The injured were rushed to a hospital by police. Excessive speed is believed to be the cause of the accident. The occupants of the bus were identified as belonging to Hyderabad. The injured were shifted to Eskota, Ananthagiri and KGH hospitals. Darkness in the area where the accident took place is hampering relief efforts. The death toll is expected to rise further as some of the injured are in critical condition.
