Lieutenant governor recommends President’s rule in Puducherry
Puducherry: With the collapse of the government in Puducherry, Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundara Rajan today recommended the state government. It is a known fact that the Narayana Swamy government could not stand the test of faith two days ago. With this, Tamilisai consulted and recommended to the state government. She sent a letter of recommendation to Delhi. It seems that the Union Cabinet will take a decision on this today. The government collapsed in Puducherry after a series of resignations of Congress MLAs.
The situation came to a head with the resignation of a total of five Congress MLAs and one allied DMK MLA. Two MLAs who resigned from the Congress later joined the BJP. Dramatic developments such as the snap elections in Puducherry, the removal of Kiran Bedi from the post of lieutenant governor by the central government and the subsequent resignation of the Congress have recently sparked uproar. Other parties have been sharply critical of the BJP.
