Police caught him fleeing the country
New Delhi: Two more people have been arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the violence at the Red Fort during a tractor rally of farmers’ unions on Republic Day. Another man was arrested, including a Dutch national of Indian descent who wanted to flee the country by creating stolen documents. Maninder Jeet Singh and Khem Preet Singh have been arrested.
Maninder Jeet Singh, a Dutch national, said he was usually a criminal. He lives in Birmingham, Britain. He said he had a hand in the violence on Republic Day and was caught at the Delhi airport fleeing the country by creating fake documents. Another accused, Khem Preet Singh, allegedly attacked policemen on duty at the Red Fort with a spear. With their arrests, the number of those arrested in the case has risen to 14.
Police in Delhi and Punjab have been searching for the culprits since the violence erupted at the Red Fort in Delhi on January 26 during a farmers’ tractor rally. CC is identifying the culprits based on the footage and scouring for their whereabouts. Two suspects have recently been arrested in the case.
